About the Chamber
The Riverbend District Chamber of Commerce exists to promote and improve trade, commerce, tourism, and the economic, civic and social welfare of the district. The Chamber is a corporation comprised of members, and is non-sectional and non-sectarian and does not lend its support to any candidate for public office or defer to any particular religion or religious organization, although religious organizations and members of office may be members or directors.
The District we serve includes the communities of Borden, Radisson, Maymont, Hafford and Ruddell as well as RM #405, 406 and 435. If you represent a neighbouring community that is not currently served by a Chamber of Commerce and would like to be a part of the Riverbend Chamber and included in our District please contact us. Businesses and organizations from outside the District that do offer services within the District are also welcome to apply for membership.
OBJECTIVES
Public Relations & Promotions: The Board maintains the online presence of the Chamber and researches opportunities to promote the chamber and its members. It also reviews, monitors and recommends Chamber revenue producing projects and initiatives such as special events, such as an Awards Gala, Golf Tournaments, and Conferences, etc.
Advocacy & Economic Development: The Board monitors and positively influence municipal affairs in the district including taxation, government spending and regulations, as well as, any matter relating to business retention and expansion. Directors attend district meetings and information gathering events, review provincial legislation changes that will have effects on members, and alerts members of important information.
Tourism: The Board provides vision and annual planning for the delivery, and promotion of tourism in the district. Directors address visitor services and operator services and represent the Chamber at various tourism related events.
Membership & Ambassadorship: The Board reviews the functions of the Chamber, addresses value added services, including improvements and additions to services, and sets the direction for membership growth. Directors also monitor the Chamber's effectiveness in providing information to businesses and about business in the area. Directors are Chamber ambassadors that will to welcome and orientate new members, engage current members and facilitate member to member networking and business. The information gathered by these individuals will open additional channels of communication between the Chamber and the membership. This assists in retention of new and existing members through personal contact and the ability to provide input on Chamber programs.
Nominations: This Board is responsible for seeking and recommending members for the Board of Directors to ensure appropriate representation and a solid succession plan.
Meetings
Regular meetings of the Board of Directors are held monthly in the Town of Radisson Office, Conference Room. Members are welcome to attend and observe only and may not interrupt the proceedings. The Board follows Rules of Order at meetings all in attendance must comply with the rules of order.
If a member of the Chamber or member of the general public wishes to present a comment, idea, concern, pitch a project or proposal to the Board, they must notify the Board minimum of seven days prior to the meeting so they may be placed on the Agenda. Requests to be placed on the Agenda with less than the required seven days notice may be allowed at the discretion of the Board's executive, or may be placed on the next meeting's agenda.
Meetings are generally closed to the public. However, members of the public may attend a meeting by special request of the Board of Directors, or in a partnership or support of a member who has been placed on the Agenda to make a presentation to the Board.
